How are the hostels at the Thiagarajar School of Management?

Thiagarajar School of Management, or TSM for short, is a private management school with a huge lush-green 17-acre campus situated in Madurai, Tamil Nadu. It was established in 1962 by Shri Karumuttu Thiagarajan Chettiar, the great industrialist, and philanthropist. The institute began with an Executive Development Programme meant for enhancing the skills of working entrepreneurs and managers in Madurai. The huge success of this program, coupled with the numerous accolades from the industry, helped the institute to kick-start a part-time MBA programme in the year 1972 with the full time MBA course launching in 1986.

At present, TSM offers MBA and PGDM programme approved by AICTE and accredited by NBA (National Board of Accreditations), New Delhi. It is now an autonomous institute affiliated under the Madurai Kamaraj University. The admission to the management programs is made on the basis of all-India entrance examinations such as MAT and CAT as well as TANCET, which is a test carried out by the state government.

Hostel Facilities

The campus of Thiagarajar School of Management also houses two separate hostels for the girls and boys to facilitate students to stay within the campus. The boys’ hostel has a capacity of 193 students whereas the girls’ hostel is capable of offering accommodation to 174 students. The rules and regulations of the hostels are framed in such a way as to train the students to achieve their academic goals under which the institution was founded. The hostel facilities promote harmonious living amongst the students belonging to a myriad of geographical areas. This helps in inculcating the feelings of self-discipline and accord amongst students.

The hostels at TSM also serve as training grounds for developing leadership qualities amongst the upcoming managers.
