After folding screens, the battle for smartphone supremacy continues — this time, with 5G technology. Five makers have unveiled some of their plans for the year 2020. This is good news for Android users since there is so much to look forward to.

Smartphone makers Xiaomi, Nokia, Oppo, Motorola, and Realme recently revealed their plans for 2020 at the recently concluded Qualcomm Snapdragon Tech Summit in Hawaii. These plans included incorporating 5G technology into some of their units that will be released in the following year. As Samsung, OnePlus, and other companies’ 5G phones were not well-received at the time of their releases, the 5G landscape is about to change soon with these other players coming on board. Let’s take a quick look at their plans for the year 2020.

5G Smartphone Companies and Their Plans for 2020

Xiaomi

Xiaomi has already entered the 5G market in October 2018 with the release of the Mi Mix 4. The phone has 5G capability and a humongous 10GB DDR4X capacity. It is set to release at least 10 affordable 5G models in the year 2020, as they have previously announced.

Nokia

The Finnish company, HMD Global, owner of Nokia, recently announced that it will be joining the 5G market and will be releasing its flagship 5G smartphone in the year 2020. As everyone is getting on the 5G bandwagon, what separates Nokia from the rest is the affordability they intend to bring to the game.

Oppo

Powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 chipset, Oppo’s next flagship smartphone is the likely successor of their Reno Ace and is, at the time of writing, tentatively known as Reno 5G. The incorporation of the 5G technology will elevate your mobile entertainment experience and enhance your phone’s photography features.

Motorola

After its major comeback with its foldable smartphone, Razr, Lenovo-owned Motorola is set on joining the 5G race with a few more units in the works and to be released in 2020. Their units will be powered with the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 and 765 chipsets.

Realme

While there is no final word yet on when Realme is set to release its X50 smartphone, it claims to be the first smartphone maker to utilize the Snapdragon 865 and 765 chipsets. However, only China will be the initial market for the company at the time of writing. There is no word yet when they will start shipping out to the rest of the world.

Like everything else, a smartphone will last depending on how the user takes care of it. Make sure to always run regular maintenance on your Android. If it needs repairs, there are a lot of trusted Android repair centers in Salt Lake City, Milwaukee, Seattle, and almost all cities and towns all over the country.

Before you get rid of your current units, take the time to do your own research, too. It always pays to do your homework to make you come up with the best choices. After all, you wouldn’t want to spend your hard-earned money on a smartphone you cannot be satisfied with.
